Detailed Product Description
Characteristice: A medium molecular weight, partially hydrolyzed vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate resin, made in a two-step precess, having a composition of approximately 90 percent vinyl chloride, 4 percent vinyl acetate, 6 percent vinyl alcohol, with a hydroxyl content of approximately 2.3 percent. VAD has excellent adhesion on PET, resin primer, paper, PVC, ABS, pre-treatment of PE and OPP.
VAD has good compatibility with other film-forming material, such as alkyd resins, polyurethane elastomers, isocyanate resin, melamine resin, urea-formaldehyde, epoxy polymers and so on. So VAD often used with other film-forming material in order to improve the coating performance, enhance paint adhesion, flexibility, tenacity, hardness and chemical resistance. The hydroxyl functional group permits crosslinking reactions for thermoset , obtaining excellent chemical and water resistance.
Solubility: Ketones is a particularly good solvent, and esters is the relatively weak solvent. Chlorinated hydrocarbons such as dichloroethane and 1,2 - dichloroethane can completely dissolve VAD, and methyl chloroform and tetrachloroethane can only swell it. Aromatic hydrocarbons have a good role in the swelling, generally using with ketone. VAD can be dissolved in relatively strong solvent/diluent combinations, such as 50 percent ketone/50 percent aromatic hydrocarbon, to produce resin solutions of 25-28 percent solids.
Application: VAD can be used for a wide range of coatings applications, including marine anti-corrosion paint, gravenu ink, chassis paints, industrial maintenance, PU and wood finishes, paper coatings, PET inks, interbedded adhesive, and adhesive for magnetic tape and carbon ribbon.
